About us

The history of our company dates back to 1989. The enterprise named originally as MOVIKA Ltd., was founded by private persons.

In the early 1990s we manufactured and supplied various parts for trackbound vehicles of the Budapest community transportation provider, BKV Zrt. These were in part procured from Western countries, and in part manufactured at our own plant. We have sought market presence with our own, individually manufactured products from the very beginning, which lead the way for extending the equipment fleet of our plant year after year. With the successful purchase of a CNC lathe and milling machine in the beginning of the 2000s, our production became more competitive. Having new machinery did not only bring an increase in competitiveness, but it also allowed us to manufacture a new range of products and thus become the major supplier of further partners in addition to BKV Zrt. (e.g.: MÁV-START Zrt., Knorr-Bremse Hungária Ltd., Siemens Mobility Ltd., MÁV-VAGON Ltd., Dunakeszi Járműjavító Ltd., BKV VJSZ Ltd., etc.).
Around the millennium we were involved in the repairs of a great deal of parts used in the trackbound vehicles of Budapest (e.g.: controllers, switches, relays, lever controls, run switches, drive gears, etc.).
In addition to our manufacturing activity we started building partnerships with several companies from Spain, Germany and Austria, which resulted in representation contracts for Hungary.

In the year 2013, the company was transferred exclusively to the family of János Sziklai, one of the company’s founders, along with a change from the MOVIKA Ltd. name to Szikametró89 Ltd. and continuation of its very activities as legal successor.

From 2013 on we have participated in more and more new projects, the two most definitive ones being the “FUTÁR project” (development of a passenger information system for the trams of BKV Zrt.), and the ongoing supply of individually manufactured air ducts, air duct covers and Corian units for IC+ vehicles of the MÁV company group.

Through its nearly 35 years of operation, the company has gathered considerable experience in the field of manufacturing and repair of trackbound vehicle parts. Our stability is ensured by 16 skilled colleagues ready to serve our customers, and a Bisnode “AAA” certificate (very low financial risk). Due to our dimensions we are able to flexibly adapt to emerging demands, be it series production, unique parts, or prototypes.

We provide support to our Clients throughout the entire manufacturing process, i.e. from the procurement of base materials, all the way until delivery of the final product. With the help of our subcontractors we are able to cover the surface treatment, heat treatment and press curing (vulcanizing) phases of the manufacturing process as well.

In the course of our manufacturing activities we apply the ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 50001:2018 management systems.

Our company headquarters and production plant are both located in Csömör, equiped with a CNC lathe and milling machine, and a FANUC Robodrill machining center. In addition to automatic machinery, several traditional lathe- and milling machines, a welding plant and a separate press machine workshop, all serve to satisfy customer demands.

MANUFACTURING

Manufacturing is the earliest activity of our company. Among others we manufacture parts, structural units, air ducts, tools, specialized machinery and electrical equipment.

REPAIR WORKS

Repair work is also a leading activity of Szikametró89 Ltd. We carry out the repair of metal processing products, trackbound vehicles, buses, trolleys, machinery and equipment, just to mention a few.

SERVICES

Our company is highly experienced in the providing of services; we undertake the repair of mechanical and electromechanical parts. We also pursue trade activities.

TRADE

We are the Hungarian representative of numerous well-known foreign companies; among others, representing Austrian, German, Spanish, Russian, Italian companies domestically.
